United Cricket Club organizing 3rd Edition of One Day Cricket Tournament

United Cricket Club (UCC) was started by a small group of Academics, during end of 2016 with a simple objective of FUN, FITNESS and FOOD. Today UCC has grown into a club with more than 43 active members from diverse background. Recently, UCC started playing competitive cricket, thanks to all of our young, dynamic and active cricket loving members.Successful completion of two tournament, we are glad to conduct the 3rd edition one day cricket tournament on 29th March 2019. This will be happening at Al Amerat.

Rules & Regulations :-

1) Matches will be in knockout basis

2) 8 overs per innings with Tennex Ball.

3) Each Bowler can bowl maximum 2 overs.

4) Umpire Decision is Final, no argument will
    be entertain. Any team found to be arguing 
    will be   disqualified and match will be 
    awarded to the   other team.

5) Premier and A division Players are not  allowed.

6) All teams to report 1 hr before there match.
7) No LBW.

United Cricket Club season-2 trophy was a cricket tournament that was held in Muscat in 16^th November 2018. It was a Knockout series between UCC-1, UCC-2, Muscat Tuskers, Team Royals, Silver Butterfly, Hunter XI, Arabian Kings and ASG.  Each team played each other in Knock out matches, with two teams progressing to the final. The tournament was played to celebrate Oman’s 48^th year of National Day. United Cricket Club confirmed that the matches would be played as 8 overs per side as per International fixtures. The fixtures and venue were announced in November 2018, with all the matches played at the RAFO Ground in Muscat.

At the outset, the tournament started with the Introduction speech by our UCC founder Mr. Alywn by welcoming the team members to the UCC tournament season 2 along with Mr. Rengarajan was giving the brief outline about the rules and regulation of this tournament.

UCC team members appointed two umpires from the Oman cricket division and they were welcomed by UCC captains Dr. Essa and Dr. Musu. The first match was between UCC2 and Hunters X1. The match started at 6:30 am in the RAFO ground.  Hunters X1 won the toss and elected to bowl first. In first innings UCC2 Scored a Decent total of 49 runs under 8 overs and finally, Hunters X1 chased the target with in 4 overs and won the group stage match and qualified to semi- finals.

The next group match between UCC-1 and Arabian Kings started at 7:30 am, Arabian Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Prajeesh and Rudra batted well and had a partnership of 45 runs and that made a mammoth total of 71 runs in 8 overs. In second innings, Arabian eleven started losing wickets and from UCC-1, Mirza and Shaji bowled exceptionally well .Mirza taken 2 wickets and giving 2 runs in 2 overs. Shajinavas taken 2 wickets in 1 over. The match turned in Seventh overs where Arabian kings needed 26 runs in 12 balls. From Arabian kings, Edwin George finish it off in style by hitting 17 runs in 7^th over. This in result Arabian kings won by 6 wickets and qualified for semifinal.

At 9am, we started the third match between Silver butterfly and Team royals. Team royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Silver butterfly had a decent start in first innings and batsmen gave a solid partnership by hitting humongous sixes and boundaries. This is the first time in UCC history where a team can score 100 runs in 8 overs. Silver butterfly scored 102 runs in 8 overs with the loss of 10 wickets. In second innings team royals started with a great partnership between Shadaab and Nihal Ahmed. Nihal batted brilliantly and scored 30 runs in 24 balls with the strike rate of 125. Finally, silver butterfly team reached semifinals by restricting team royals with great bowling and fielding effort and won by 46 runs.

The final knock out match between ASG and Muscat Tuskers. ASG won the toss and elected to bat first. Shakir Dadarkar from ASG scored 35 runs in 15 balls with strike rate of 233.33, he hit 3 sixes and 3 boundaries and gave a solid start to ASG. Muscat tuskers bowled well and they restricted ASG  by scoring huge target and they ended up in 72 runs by 8 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. In second innings Banty from Muscat tuskers scored a Half century with a strike rate of 266.66. He raises his bat to acknowledge the applause. Followed up his batting heroics with an 8 wicket haul to dismantle the ASG bowling line up and swat them away in what eventually turned out to be a complete cricket contest. A mere consolation in this format of the game – and folded shortly thereafter to rubber stamp in semifinal line- up – Muscat Tuskers, HuntersXI, Silver butterfly and Arabian kings.

At 12:35, first semi-final match between Muscat tuskers and Silver Butterfly. Sliver butterfly won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sliver butterfly restricted their batting line up and their bowlers were giving tough job to Muscat tusker’s batsman. Muscat tuskers scored 54 runs in 8 overs. In second innings Silver butterfly scored 58 runs in 4.1 overs with ease and reached finals.

The next semi – final match between Hunters XI and Arabian kings. Arabian Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Mustaq from Hunters scored a Half century by hitting monstrous sixes and fours. Hunters scored 100 runs with the loss of 4 wickets in 8 overs. In second innings, Arabian had a poor start with the bat. First time in the UCC tournament, Nimit from hunters had a hat trick by picking 3 wickets at a time and he gave a very tough fight to Arabian kings. Finally Hunter XI won the match and reached finals.

The final of the 2^nd UCC tournament between Hunter XI and Silver Butterfly at RAFO ground, Muscat.  Silver butterfly won the toss and elected to Bat first and they scored 82 runs in 8 overs and in second innings Hunters XI scored 81 runs with 6 wickets in hand and lost by 2 runs. It was a nail – biting finish Silver butterly won the 2^nd UCC tournament by winning 1 runs against Hunter XI. Nimit won the Best bowler of the tournament and Mustaq won the best batsmen and best player of the tournament.

In presentation ceremony, UCC founders welcomed chief guest from Vision insurance and he was awarded a gift of honor from Mr. Renga, and Mr. Alwyn. Team founder Dr. Essa gave vote of thanks to the people who came and supported the UCC tournament, in particular he thanked Mr Ruban for his valuable contribution to the team and helping the tournament. Dr Essa thanked Vimal, Muneer, Shajinavas , Suresh, Kathir  and other UCC members for making this tournament a Grant successful one.

Eight teams qualify for Muscat Municipality Cricket Championship

MUSCAT: Eight teams from Group B have qualified for Round Two of the Third Muscat Municipality Cricket Championship, organised in cooperation with Oman Cricket Club from November 2 to 30, at Qurum Park.

In the eight matches that were held during the weekend, Asfandyar beat United Cricketers by six runs.

Winning the toss Asfandyar posted a total of 36 runs, and in reply United Cricketers made 30 runs.

United Mangalore got the better of K11 after winning the match by 3 runs. United Mangalore made 37 while K11 managed to make 34 runs.

Electing to bat first National Plastic Company set a target of 38 runs, HCC in reply managed to score just 33 runs losing the game by 5 runs.

Sumail Team beat Directorate General of Landscaping by 1 run after setting a total of 60 runs for the opposition to chase down.

The Directorate General of Technical Affairs beat Al Mabailah Youth who posted a big total of 66 in their allotted overs. Needing 67 to win Al Mabailah Youth collapsed to 33 all out.

The Directorate General of Muscat Municipality, Al Mabailah beat the Directorate General of Projects by 16 runs to win the match.

Bausher beat the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality, Seeb by 45 runs, after the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality, Seeb team were all out for 21 runs.

The last game of the day which ended with both teams tied at 53 runs, was decided by a super over where Michael X1 beat Titans KFC by 2 runs after Michael score 9 runs and in reply Titans KFC made 7 runs.

It is worth mentioning that 32 team are taking part in the championship of which 10 teams affiliated to Muscat Municp0laity, 16 teams of non-Omanis from the private and government sectors and other 6 local teams.

Recently, UCC started playing competitive cricket, thanks to all of our young, dynamic and active cricket loving members.

UCC always pushes its limit. For this, we have conducted a one day tournament with eight teams for UCC Amajeena trophy, which was completed successfully on April 27th 2018. That event was sponsored by Purple Swan LLC (Amajeena Products), Muscat, Oman United Insurance, Muscat, and Sports Point, Muscat.

Based on the achievement, response and successful completion of first tournament, we are glad to conduct the season 2, tournament on 16th November 2018. This will be happening at ground opposite to Old airport (near to Resident card office, Seeb). Matches will be in knockout basis and 8 overs per innings. Muscat Municipality is organizing a MRI ball tournament annually . Today 02-11-2018'...... the first match was between Muscat Steels and United Friends Club, United Friends won the toss and elected to bat first. Mr vimal was appointment as captain by Ucc core selection committee and team was selected on the basis of performance and in tandem giving chance to new players to perform well in the tournament.

•   We started quite well in the first over, opening batsman were Irshan and Illyas. Both batted reasonably well. Unfortunately Illyas got out by stumping.
• By the decision of captain Vimal, Rudra was asked to go for the 1st down and he performed well and he hit 2 sixes in that over. 
•  later Irshan got out and Muneer came in 3rd down and he was run out by taking an extra run.
• Finally we ended up scoring 49 in 8 overs. Which was more than satisfactory. 
•  Our bowlers were outstanding today Rudra and Irshan bowled in very good length and took 2 wickets each. And the fascinating thing is Eshwar took a fantastic catch in the first over.

To sum up, we lost by 6 wickets and opponent team chased the target with in 5 overs.

Muscat Municipality to hold cricket tournament from November 2

MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality, represented by the Directorate General of Human Resources and the Sport Committee will hold the Muscat Cricket Tournament for the second consecutive year which was announced during a press conference held at the Al Falaj Hotel.

The tournament will be held in collaboration with the Oman Cricket Club along with a number of corporate entities from November 2-30, with matches being held every Friday at the Qurum Natural Park.

According to the organisers a total number of 32 teams will participate in the tournament with 11 teams from the Muscat Municipality, 16 teams from the private sector and 5 Omani teams.

The conference emphasised the importance of this tournament and its role in promoting sporting skill among the participating teams.

Assistant Director General of the Directorate General of Human Resources Adil Arafah said that Muscat Municipality seeks through this tournament to raise people's awareness of physical activity and to upgrade the level of diffenernt sport activities among people.

Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, chairman of the Sports Committee at Muscat Municipality said that this tournament tries to invest the success made in the previous tournament and to continue finding an effective sponsorship that serves as an umbrella for such tournament.

Muscat Municipality expressed their gratitude to Khimji Ramdas for their support to the tournament for the second consecutive year
